Dollar-cost averaging (or DCA) is one of the simplest and most effective investing strategies. The idea behind it is very simple - you just keep investing small amounts of money every month, week, or another period of time. Investments are made no matter how the stock is performing and that's the trickiest part because when the stock price is rising you might want to sell everything to secure the profits or stop doing DCA because of the belief that the stock has already reached the top and there is no upside potential left. Ironically when the stock price is sharply falling you might want to do exactly the same, because you can be afraid to lose all the profits you've made or you can lose the faith in this strategy.
